Not nearly as exotic as other places mentioned on this blog, like Helsinki, North Adams, Massachusetts is still worth checking out if you’re ever around the VT, NY corners of western, MA. North Adams is the home of Mass MOCA, the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. I also checked out a geological feature called Natural Bridge and the 11-mile paved Ashuwillticook rail trail. It’s also very dog-friendly.

I stayed at Porches, a set of dwellings across from Mass MOCA that the mill workers used to live in . (MASS MOCA occupies old mill buildings.) It looked a little ghetto driving up in the dark, but it’s really cute inside. They also have an outdoor heated pool and hot tub and breakfast service where they drop off juice, coffee and a muffin or croissant in little metal lunchboxes. Very cute.
